David’s iconic song “One Shining Moment” has become synonymous with CBS Sports’ coverage of the championship game in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Finals. Each year, since 1987, “One Shining Moment” has been used as the soundtrack to underscore a final montage of the championship team’s performance. The song has been recorded by Grammy® Award-winning artists Jennifer Hudson, Luther Vandross, and Teddy Pendergrass. The Wall Street Journal called the song, “Arguably the most famous song in sports,” and Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski bestowed it with the title, “The national anthem for college basketball.”

While “One Shining Moment” is, in and of itself, enough to validate and define a musician’s career, it is only the beginning of David’s impressive résumé. Staying within the realm of premier sporting events, David has also composed themes and music for broadcasts of the Seoul Olympics on CBC, the theme for The Great 18 (an ABC Special), the theme for the PGA Championship on CBS, and the closing theme for the Calgary Olympics on CBC. Veering away from the playing fields, David has scored several critically-acclaimed documentaries, including a C.S. Lewis special on PBS that earned him an Emmy Award and another PBS special on Woody Hayes which earned him another Emmy Award. As a producer, he has produced a bevy of national advertising for McDonald’s, Hallmark, AT&T, Disney, and Dutch Boy, to name a few. As an artist, David has toured at length with folk-rock legend Art Garfunkel and was the opening act for other great artists, such as: Alison Krauss, Leo Kottke, Michael Hedges, Kathy Mattea, The Beach Boys, The Cowboy Junkies and more. On top of all of this, he is also a winner of several Addy awards.
